Having children comes with many added benefits to your life, one of those benefits is that you get to share many activities together that not only help their physical and mental development but also make the bond between you stronger.

There’s nothing more beautiful than creating memories with our children through play, so to help you get started, here are a few ideas for fun family activities you can enjoy with your children!

Recreate Your House

This is a bit of an arts and crafts activities that you can all enjoy together. All you’ll need is a milk carton, construction paper, scissors, tongue depressors, and colored pencils, markers, watercolors, crayons, etc. To get started, cut the milk carton in half and cover it with construction paper. Then have your children draw doors, windows, trees, etc., that are similar to home onto the tiny house. Next, have them draw family members on the tongue depressors and then place them in the house. You can create a whole town together if one house is not enough!

Collages

Making collages together is a great way to pass the time as a family, not just because this is a fun activity, but also because you get a chance to get know everyone’s interests and dreams. Just get a bunch of old magazines, glue, glitter, colored pencils, markers, watercolors, etc., scissors and poster board for your background. Then just cut pictures of things that represent what you like, your favorite activities, your desires and dreams and glue them on your poster board. Then decorate however you want and discuss what your collage means to you!

Nature Scavenger Hunt

Nature scavenger hunts are entertaining for people of all ages, so it’s the perfect activity to enjoy together as a family. What you need to do is hand everyone a basket and then go to the park, the woods (if you have them), or simply take a walk around the neighborhood together and collect as many natural items as you can find; different leaves, rocks, sticks, flowers, fruits, etc. Then, discuss what you found and look for the names and properties of the things you find most interesting.

Tend to the Garden

Gardening together is an excellent way of spending time as a family and your children will find it particularly interesting because it’s a project they can invest themselves in. Watching something grow and understanding the process behind it is fascinating, not to mention it will give everyone a lot of pleasure to harvest something with their own hands. If you have a green thumb, bring your family in on it, and you’ll never regret it.

Picnic

If the day is lovely, what more reason do you need to make a family picnic?! Make sandwiches together and prepare all the snacks you’ll be bringing, grab a blanket, a ball and other toys, and just head to the park to enjoy your day together. Spending time as a family is as simple as that!
