Beautiful Nursery Décor on a Budget: Small Details, Big Impact

Creating a beautiful nursery doesn't have to mean buying everything brand new or spending a fortune. Some of the loveliest baby rooms are created by combining a few well-chosen pieces with simple decorative touches that make the space feel personal.

When decorating a nursery, focus your budget on practical furniture and items that will be used regularly, then use smaller accessories to introduce colour, personality and warmth.

Let the Walls Do the Work

One of the easiest ways to transform a nursery is with colour.

You don't necessarily need expensive wallpaper or elaborate murals some decals can work wonders for an interesting wall. A carefully chosen paint colour can completely change the atmosphere of the room.

Soft sage, warm beige, dusty blue, creamy white and gentle terracotta can all create beautiful backdrops. If you're renting or don't want to repaint, consider removable wall decals or artwork instead.

Create an Artwork Gallery

A few framed prints can make a big difference.

Choose a small collection around a theme your family loves. Animals, nature, stars, rainbows, botanical illustrations or simple alphabet artwork can all work beautifully.

Rather than buying everything at once, collect pieces gradually. Children's artwork can eventually replace some of the nursery prints, creating a room that changes naturally over time.

Add Softness with Textiles

Textiles are one of the easiest ways to change the look of a room without replacing furniture.

A soft rug, blanket, curtains or cushions can introduce a new colour palette and make the nursery feel warmer.

If you already have neutral furniture, colourful textiles can give the room personality. If your furniture is colourful, keep the textiles simple to create balance.

Make Storage Part of the Décor

Storage doesn't have to be boring. Baskets, boxes and shelves can become attractive features in their own right.

A row of books on a small bookcase can add colour, while baskets can bring natural texture into the room. Open storage also makes frequently used items easier to find.

As your child grows, storage can change with them — from nappies and blankets to toys, books, craft supplies and collections.
